Hello, newbie here!
Was diagnosed in August, T3 something something.lol
Just finished 5 Fu/ Radiation last Friday, surgery not scheduled yet. I had a colonoscopy in 2015 with some polyps but non cancerous, started noticing problems around April of this year. Had just lost my brother to Mets melanoma in November and had promised my wife that I wouldn't be stubborn if I ever started having problems with anything! Had annual physical in June, they missed tumor with rectal exam. Finally got endoscopy in July which found Barretts disease. So got colonoscopy August 3 and was introduced to adenocarcinoma. 2.5 cm tumor, I'll have to look at my sheet for the specifics. I had almost no problems with the chemo other than the still metallic taste in my mouth. The radiation burn SSUUUUCKKKKS! But it will feel better when it quits hurting! I take Poly MVA almost daily which I attribute my continued good numbers to during chemo, my lowest anc was 2800 I think at the end of week 5, back up to 3800 after the weekend. Not sure what's in store but I'll meet it head on! Oh I'm 53 with a 30 year old wife, we banked sperm before I started treatment and she just did the iivf regimen, we find out Tuesday if we have a bun in the oven. Fingers crossed!

Welcome to the forum. Your story sounds a little like mine. The chemo was fine during chemo/radiation but the burn from the radiation did suck. Took a couple weeks to feel back to normal. I hope everything goes smoothly with your surgery and if you have any questions or issues feel free to come here and ask. There are so many people here that are knowledgable and have done so well with treatments at all stages. Also, good luck to you and your wife on getting pregnant.

I was also diagnosed with Barrett’s Esophagus and was advised that does not mean automatically advancing to cancer. However considering my luck with cancer, I get annual endoscopy to monitor status.

It took me one to two weeks for the radiation burns to go away. I think that it took that long to get my energy back too.
