Testing results

Postby Ampes » Mon Nov 20, 2017 1:58 pm

My husband had a right Hemi colectomy on October 11 stage 2 a . We are waiting on path results to determine if chemo is advised . We were suppposed to go tomorrow after waiting an additional 2 weeks for results. We have now been told results are not back yet and rescheduled for December 13 . Has anyone had to wait this long? We are waiting on the OncoX results . Thanks !

When editing my post it cleared the entire thing! Yes I️ meant right Hemicolectomy ! Haha ! I️ don’t type well. We are continuing to wait on OncoX results and it will be nearly 6 weeks when we finally get them . Has anyone else had to wait this long for results ? Thanks

welcome....I am going to weigh in here.....

Stage 2A and also had a right hemicolectomy. I had two high risk factors, LVI and poorly differentiated. My oncologist is from MD Anderson. He did not order an OncoX test because he said that it is good for breast cancer, but not a good predictor for colon cancer. Being from a major cancer center, he looked at the risk factors and suggested that I take Xeloda for 8 cycles. It was up to me, but I wanted to be proactive, so I agreed. I do not regret my decision.

As far as the wait, you might want to find out when the company received your specimens. Usually it takes no longer than 10 days. However, if they had to wait for insurance clearance, it might have taken time. They than have to send your specimens to OncoX. All of these factors might have pushed your testing back. If it was me, I would ask when your slides were sent...you might get your answer. I had my surgery on 11/4 and did not get my pathology report back until 11/21.
