colonoscopy clip for Pevlic MRI

Postby JennyC » Thu Nov 16, 2017 9:10 pm

Hi,

I did a pelvic MRI three weeks and five days after the colonoscopy. After I read the test report which shows I have something in my Pelvic area, my doctor who ordered the test helped me to check with radiologist. The radiologist said it was a clip after polyp removed during colonoscopy. I never known I have a clip though. I am wondering Whether the clip would harm my colon and pelvic cavity because I heard the metal will move around in your body during MRI. Also, If the clip moved during MRI, is any symptoms show up? Thank you very much!

Hi Jenny,
Bumping this back up to the top. Sorry I have no answers to your question. Maybe someone here can answer your question. Or maybe put a call into the Dr. that did your scope. I suspect someone in Dr.'s office should be able to answer your question.

Let us know what you find out.

Good luck,

Check with your doctors first ...
BUTT most (all) surgical metals now in use should not have problems with MRIs
MRI would affect ferromagnetic metals ( iron containing ) surgical titanium should not have any iron impurities,
so permanent implants are OK for MRIs.

IF something is meant to be removed or "slough off" with normal healing, then there may be an issue
I doubt it ... BUTT check with your docs to be sure

Best wishes
