My Dad was diagnosed with stage 3 RC when he was in his 60's. He's still around, walking every day, and making messes in the kitchen.
At the time of his diagnosis, my sister and I both had colonoscopies. I was 45, and she was 42. Both clean at that point. I continued to have them every 5 years, until I ended up in the ER with gangrene and sepsis due to a rectal tumor. My surgeon is still puzzled by this today. His best guess is that at the colonoscopy previous to diagnosis, the GI missed something. Most likely a flat polyp, although the placement of the tumor makes his suspicious because it should have been easy to see. I guess we'll never know.
My daughter has had 2 colonoscopies. One at age 27, where a polyp was found, and then 3 years later, no polyp.
All this is with no apparent genetic component. Not Lynch anyway, there must be a connection butt current science hasn't pin pointed it yet.
