I'm honored to be here with you

Postby CaliforniaBagMan » Thu Nov 16, 2017 10:13 am

I read the threads here, and admire so much about the people who participate in this forum.

The courage of people. The courage of families of people. And the untiring willingness to share information, exchange stories, and sometimes just give a hug when it's time to do that. I admire those putting up a courageous battle and fight-- with uncertainty of outcome.

I have been lucky. It was ten years ago that my surgery changed me from someone afflicted with cancer to someone who was not. And I have been lucky along the entire journey to receive the wise and sometimes irreverent counsel of those who participate here. Which helped. Thank you all.

Thank you for posting such a nice thought. I agree with everything you have said. It has helped me immensely to have a place to go and express my feelings, tell my story, and ask questions from those who have been through the same experience. I wish I would have found this forum when I was going through treatment, but it's okay I'm here now. Congratulations on 10 years. I love to hear these stories. So inspiring.

Hi Bag man,
Congratulations on the ten years and I agree totally with your sentiments. I am also a stage 3c survivor. I have always felt that these boards are better for having a mix of the new and the old. The former for getting information and answers and the latter for experience and hope. This coming Jan 11th will be my 20 th year still cancer free. Best wishes Ron.

Hi California Bag Man, i agree - the people here are so knowledgeable and encouraging. I’m new here and they have helped me tremendously. Everyone here speaks from experience and they get what it’s like to not only be a patient, but in other instances be a caregiver to someone with colon cancer. Love that you’re ten years NED! Many more years of happiness and health to you!

Congratulations on ten years! I am at 9.5 years myself. I was just remembering today how I felt at Thanksgiving dinner nine years ago, right after my twelfth round of chemo. Ugh.

I think it's great for those with lots of NED time to come in and offer wisdom and support. I haven't been around at all lately, but I see others doing a good job of this.

Darkness,

I was surprised to read you had no chemo and no radiation. Lucky you!

If that typical protocol now for your staging? Or did you decide or decline either of them?
