I wanted to give a quick update on my situation.
On 11/20 I had a lower left lobectomy. The pathology report showed clear margins with 0/17 lymph node involvement.
12/26 follow up PET was clear, indicating a sucessful surgery. NED again just in time for the new year!
I have consulted with two oncologist (Virginia P. Piper & MD Anderson) and my integrative oncologist about what to do going forward. They’re in agreement that due to my negative PET and low CEA they are all recommending we skip chemo and monitor closely. I’ll get month CEA draw and scans every 3 months. We are also considering starting mistletoe injections as an adjunct therapy.
Physically recovering from the lobectomy was a piece of cake, but emotionally I’m struggling. I’m terrified that we’re making the wrong decision skipping chemo... I’d love to hear from anyone who had a lung resection without follow up chemo.
Thanks and Happy New Year!
