Recovery~Pain after 5 min And Pinhole ?

Postby Jorlex » Wed Nov 15, 2017 12:54 am

Family tells me to relax and not to worry. But none of them have been through this. Y’all tell me to, I’ll listen. :D
Surgery was just 8 days ago. 12 inches of colon removed, small section of upper rectal. I have the 5 robotic scars and then the vertical perineal, or c section cut, some call it.
That lower right section gives me sharp pains after 5 min of standing. Like clockwork. Makes it hard for my walking around.
I double over pushing on it for relief. Other incisions, I don’t notice.
Also it burns using restroom. I thought, maybe I developed a hemmoroid??? So I looked. There’s a hole there, that should not be. Small pinhole. What in the world is that? :? :?:
Any advice much appreciated.

I’m 16 days out from surgery but mine was rectal so quite a few differences. I had aches from the left side and pain meds didn’t do much. As far as I can tell it was either the ureters or bladder or both. I think that standing or walking irritated something and it took a little time to go away. Emptying my bladder was also required. It took a while to figure out too.

It may help to look at an anatomy diagram to see what I’d in the area where you feel pain so that maybe you can narrow things down. You’ll also ask your doctor as I assume that you have a postoperative meeting in a week.

I’ve heard that some people need up to six weeks to recover fully from the pain of surgery so it might be normal but I can understand how frustrating it is when you’re trying to get your life back to normal.

Call the surgeon's office, explain what it happening. Let them determine if they need to see you.

Probably is nothing, butt then again it could be something. Here's hoping it is nothing

Agree with Lee. Time to call the surgeon's office and see what they say. Could be a fistula. Could be nothing. You also might need more or different pain meds.

Eight days isn't a long time post-surgery. Your body is going through a lot of changes/healing right now. My docs said eating protein would speed things up. You might give that a try too.

Let us know what you find out. Sending good thoughts your way!

Thank you. Today the abdominal binder I ordered arrived, seems to help some.Feel a bit better moving around. I’m only taking Motrin now. It was Motrin n Tylenol in hospital after spinal wore off. Thinking I’ll go ahead and go back to taking both.
Will have to call about the bothersome other issue that does appear to be Fistula. No fever, so that’s good.
Thank you for support

There might be something coming through the pinhole. You should see the surgeon and have it checked out. It might be nothing. On the other hand, it might be something that requires medical attention.

I called as I had some bleeding. I didn’t realize I needed to stay on Motrin not just for pain but for swelling. So doing that now. And no one said anything about taking miralax and Colace, started that as well. Then will see dr next week. If I have more bleeding, I have to go in, straight away.
