Very depressed

Postby Sara!!!! » Sat Nov 04, 2017 12:43 pm

Hi all, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in December 16. The primary was resected. After surgery she had 4 small spots in the liver. N very small lung nodules. Started folfox. After 3 months two liver lesions disappeared. cea came down to 17 from 41. So far so good. Talked to the liver surgeon for resection. Had a pet before that which didn't show activity anywhere in the body. So doctors asked us to take more chemo for 3 months and thn we'll see. Cea started going up. Pet in August showed 3 liver lesions with activity. Nothing else. The surgeon said still resecttable. A CT before surgery showed omental thickness in September. They still went for surgery with curative intent on 31st. Peritoneal metastasis :(. So closed her up. Is anyone out there with liver and diffuse peritoneal mets? What will we do now? :(

I have seeding on my omentum and a mass. I also showed some on my liver. The last few scans did not say anything about my liver so not sure what is up with that.

I'm pretty much inoperable but everything is responding VERY well to the chemo. My signature tells my story.

I have no idea what is going to happen after chemo is done. If I have to go farther than the 12 sessions, I will do so as long as it keeps working. My main focus is on getting into remission. After that... I don't know. I am just putting all my energy into telling my body to work with me in kicking cancer's ass.

My hope is that the cancer gets killed and then a watch and wait. I don't know if anyone has been able to get into remission and stay there without surgery to cut it out. I feel like I am in unknown territory. In the meantime, I keep researching and finding doctors. Getting second opinions on what to do next is my next goal. I have an appointment in Philly this month to go over what has been done so far and see what they say.

I am staying positive and LIVING.

Are you near any major cancer treatment centers. If possible, get opinions from a couple of these centers.

Good luck,

I've looked at HIPEC. I haven't found a majority that don't have recurrance. There are only a few that are completely successful. I know of two on this site that have been a success story. I've found more that haven't. I'm not sold on HIPEC. I keep researching.

One day at a time, one step at a time. It's getting better and the cancer is responding so that gives me hope. I don't think about failure only success. :)
