Prostate cancer years after colorectal cancer?

My husband had stage III rectal cancer in 2008. He did chemo and radiation for six weeks then had resection surgery with a temporary ostomy. He did 12 rounds of folfox 6 chemo after surgery. He then had ostomy reversal surgery. He has been cancer free until last week. His PSA shot up and urologist sent him for a prostate MRI. The MRI shows pirad-5, gleason 7 with possible T1 or T2 tumor on the prostate. The urologist said to go to Moffitt cancer center because they didn't want to treat him due to his previous cancer. Moffitt can't see him until December due to holiday vacations. Has anyone been through similar situation? What treatment plan did you get for the prostate cancer?

Bumping this back up. Sorry you have not gotten an answer to your question. I am a female thus no help. Not sure if the male population can answer your question directly as this forum is more for colon cancer. Butt maybe there is someone on this forum that can answer you.

Sorry for his double whammy ... would hope once was enough

answer to first ???? = not personally
answer to second ???? = varies a lot, BUTT can involve surgery, radiation, chemo ... just like us here.
There have even been hormonally based treatments and "watch and waits" with aggressive monitoring ...

Tx's will vary & staging goes all the way up to IV just like colon cancer, + certainly your DH's health history/past tx's may very will determine course today. I'm reading that a urologist, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist are usually involved. From what I've read, don't rush to tx, do your homework. Prostate cancer seems to be the most confusing of all, even among medical professionals...all the reason to get more than one opinion if possible.
