Glad to hear your colonoscopy went well. So sorry to hear about your dog. My 13 yr old dog passed away in June of this year. Last week, we had to put down our 18 yrs cat. It's been a rough year. This cat, had a paw in raising our son, and our son feels like he lost a brother.

Take care,

That's a much lighter protocol than we have here though it appears that things may be moving in the direction of less surveillance. Over here, I've heard that colonoscopies are annual, scans every six months, bloodwork every three months. My oncologist is saying that he likes to do scans every year. We're doing 9 months to split the difference but I'm fine with doing them annually after that. I have to talk to him or the surgeon about the colonoscopies. We were going to have the surgeon do them but I'm thinking of doing them locally with the GI guy who did the first and second. Going into Boston for minor surgery may be overkill.

I would guess that your lighter surveillance would make it easier to not think about cancer so much.

Yes, but I have done rectoscopy and CAT scan first every three months and then every 6 months. I guess because I am a stage IV. The thing is that colon has been clear, no polips, so reoccurrence would be in the rectum and then perhaps a rectoscopy is enough? A new polip in the colon would take some time before becoming cancerous.

I had to put my dog to sleep. I miss him a lot.
Otherwise things are fine, biking to work (with spikes), training strenght and running. Working full time. No anxiety, so I don’t have much to write, but I read and try to answer when I feel I can contribute.

Hi Claudia,
I hope that a little time has helped ease the pain of losing your dog, having to walk mine is what gets me through the day sometimes when all I want to do is come home and go to bed. Take care, Susan

Hi again,
today I had another scope and got the results from the last CAT scan. Everything is unchanged. Next scan in 6 months. Otherwise I am fine, here it is very cold and very good skiing conditions.

Hi! Just dropping to say hallo. It is one year now since last surgery to remove a lung metastasis. Everything is still fine, I will have the next control in August, but that will be an x ray and ultrasound. No CAT scan this time. So, no news, good news! Soon leaving for a long drive to Italy and 6 weeks holiday with family (also my dog and cat), runnng, hiking and swimming. Carpe diem as usual! :)

Today I got a scope and the results of the last cat scan and ecography. Everything is fine, CEA is 1.2. Next control in 6 months. :D

Last week I ran a 10 km race, the same I ran two years ago before diagnosis. This time in 47 min, not quite my best time, but I am still very happy given the little training during the hot Italian summer.

Hi! Today I had a new rectoscopy and they also give me the results of the CAT scan of abdomen and ecography to the lungs. Everything is fine, CEA normal.

:D :D :D

Next check in six months!

Now I will celebrate with a walk in the fields with my dog:
