Colon Camp 2019

Postby O Stoma Mia » Thu Oct 19, 2017 1:35 pm

It looks like Colon Club is now accepting applications for the 2019 competition for "Featured Survivors/Caregivers":

The on-line application form is here:

https://colondar.wufoo.com/forms/q6feos0lkm5mn/

Does anyone know anything more about this? The application form has changed significantly from last year's form but I cannot find any explanation for these changes or any formal announcement. Does anyone know what is going on?

If it's like it was last year, the deadline for applications this time around will be at the end of February 2018.

Thanks

Thanks for bringing this up, OSM. The application has actually changed very little, but it's a lot more professional looking than it has been in years past -- it looked rather generic and was not branded, so we cleaned it up a little bit. There are three changes: a) we are now accepting applications from caregivers as well as from survivors; b) we indicate that models must be present for the entire duration of the shoot and ask for confirmation of that; and c) we ask about the willingness to help fundraise. On the Rise has morphed from the days of the Colondar, and we are getting a lot more of them in the hands of doctors, nurses, and medical facilities....but there's a cost to that.

If anyone has any questions about the process or needs more information, I'd be happy to talk through it -- feel free to PM me or email me at chris@colonclub.com.

It is not too late to apply for the 2019 On the Rise retreat & photo shoot. If you are a colorectal cancer survivor who was dx under the typical age of 50...or...the caregiver of someone who was dx with CRC under the typical age of 50...PLEASE consider applying now! All applications are due by January 31st. The On the Rise magazine is the product from this retreat, but the retreat itself (Colon Camp) is something you will never forget. Go to https://colondar.wufoo.com/forms/q6feos0lkm5mn/ to apply now!

Colon Camp 2019 is where the new 2019 "On The Rise" models will meet each other and where the "photo shoot" will take place.
If you want to get an idea of what a Colon Camp retreat is like, you can look at this sketch-story written by a previous year's model:

I really enjoyed reading that. Thanks for sharing it.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 12 years NED). Is this real life?

Thanks

I think that you would have to talk to the organisers of this event and ask for an exception. Normally, this event is an exclusive event, by invitation only, after you submit a winning application by the announced deadline. However, since you were over 50 years of age at DX, you would not even have been able to submit an application.

The winners of this year's competition have already been selected and announced. They include 11 survivors and 2 caregivers:

They are the ones who will be heading off shortly to Colon Camp (June 26 - June 30).
