Help!! Bright red blood on the surface of stool

Postby Jam34983 » Mon Sep 25, 2017 4:22 pm

Hello, I had rectal bleeding about 4 years ago which turned out to be a hemorrhoid, The doctor clipped it and about a week later I noticed bleeding again. Called the doctor and I schedule a appointment but the appointment was two weeks away. So every day until my appointment I stuck my finger in to my rectum I know disgusted, but I noticed a bulge get The bulge got smaller every day until my appointment The doctor looked inside my rectum couldn't find anything wrong so he scheduled a colonoscopy. I have a cleared colonoscopy no polyps or anything fast forward to now four years later I noticed right sweat blood on the surface of my stool. It's all in one place about the size of a dime, my stool has always been hard and large I think my whole life. Sometime it's difficult to push them out sometimes, and it hurts like hell sometimes also every time I have a bowel movement about 30 to 45 minutes later my rectum would Itch like crazy, don't know if I have cuts or what but it does it like almost all the time. So I'm thinking should I get a doctor to do a colonoscopy again to ease my mind. What do you think ? Am I being paranoid. Ps I'm only 33 years old no family history of colon problems.

If you feel something isn't right you should request a colonoscopy. My gastro told me any time blood on stool or blood in general colonoscopy is warranted. I thought mine was hemorrhoids. Yes, definitely get checked. There's a good chance it's not cancer but there are many digestive system disorders than can cause problems.

Okay, because you were scoped 4 years ago, more than likely it is NOT cancer. From polyp to cancer, takes about 10 years. For a few rare people due to genetic disorder, process takes a few years. Again, VERY RARE, so don't assume you fall into the catagory, especially since your last scope was clean. If you were one of those rare people, they would have found many polyps in your last scope.

Since you have had hemorrhoids in the past, mostly likely that is what it is. Do follow up with a doctor, butt with your age, family history, and last scope, I suspect they will just check your rectum for hemorrhoids. Especially if it's itchy, that hemorrhoids.

Good luck, keep us posted.

P.S. Forgot to add, try drinking a LOT more water or liquid, it might help with constipation issues.

About 10 years. If you had a colonoscopy 10 year ago, and your last Dr, did s/he job right, you MIGHT be looking at a stage I. More than likely a stage 0 or precancer, really the odds are more likely 10-15 years for a polyp to turn cancerous tumor. Your chances of beating this are in the 90+%.

I understand your fears, BUTT IF you have cancer, based on ever thing I know, it's an early stage (0 to maybe stage I, and that is a push). This is based on info you provided on this thread.

Hope this helps,

Lee

Thanks for your answer that's what I figured, the chances of it being the big C is low from you said about polyps. With my family history and last scope I figured that's about what the doctor would do unless I aggressively ask for a scope. Been watching my bowel movement for the last few days no blood or any symptoms at all I still get the itching around my anus on the outside after bowel movement. I been paid attention to my bow movement ever since the last scope.
