5 years 8 months later...

Postby sbrainbolt » Mon Sep 25, 2017 9:58 am

Well, it has been what seems like an eternity, but just less than 6 years ago I started down this journey. Thursday, my oncologist at MD Anderson in Houston, TX gave me a hug and sent me on my way. He told me I am cured and have a little higher chance than the general population of getting colon cancer in the future.

Excited and terrified at the same time. All the "what ifs?" keep coming into my mind. I decided to sign up with the survivorship clinic at MDA where they will check CEA once a year and schedule my colonoscopies.

Best of luck to everyone on this board. There is hope!

That is so awesome. Your story gives me hope too as a lung nodule was seen on my May ct scan that is being watched as well. No change in July so stable right now. I am so happy for you. Make sure you check in here now and then and let us know how you are doing.

My husband also got a clean bill of health from MDA a little over a year ago. He's just under 7 years out of surgery and has been NED since. I know what you mean, your so grateful and relieved but yet scared to death that they cut you loose.

So happy for you,
