New

Postby Mandabee703 » Sun Sep 24, 2017 12:18 am

I am new so, I guess I'm saying, hello.

Stage 3, colon. 38 single mother, 4 kids. I begin chemo Monday. Everything is so surreal. A lot is still so confusing. I had a colonoscopy where a large polyp was found. Surgery determined tere was no residual cancer in portion of colon removed but it was in lymphs. 3 out of the 10 removed. Doctor seems confused as to why it is in lymph if there was no residual.

Doctor seems to be optomistic of coming through it but its frightening.

In this boat too. Just had my resection. It's a large tumor but it seemed to be localized. Now worrying about the lymphs. This is a great support group- a lot of helpful people with tons of success stories. We have to keep positive!

This is so true. You can't waste your precious time worrying about worst case scenarios which casts a dark shadow on every day than you do have. Once I decided to believe I was going to be cured (until a scan, test or doctor told me otherwise), I was much happier and could really enjoy every moment each day.

Hi and welcome, sorry for the reason you are here.

That is one thing about cancer, it does not follow the rule book. It does sound like the surgeon probably got all the cancer. Butt I'm sure you will be getting chemo.

I'm a 13 year survivor from stage III rectal cancer. Here is an ongoing thread that was started in 2009 for stage III people.

I'm sorry for the reason you are here. From the moment I heard cancer, it seemed like my life changed. After my first surgery, I was positive that it was done and gone. I was stunned when it bit me again 3 years later.

Try to get it in your mind that chemo is your fighting buddy. That is what is getting me through this. I imagine a little fighting army coursing through and firing shots at this damned cancer.

Take it one step at a time. {{hugs}}
