Larry has an eviction date!!!

Postby BeansMama » Sat Sep 16, 2017 4:37 pm

Well, we have an eviction date for Larry! On October 5th I will go in and have the entire left side of my liver removed (from Larry over). Surgeon is still not sure how the surgery will be done, she may have to do the crazy complex one that involves heart lung bypass. It all depends on how attached to my arteries he is and whether they will have to resect and rebuild the vascular system. I do know I will have three surgeons in the room. My surgeon, her partner who used to do liver transplants, and a liver transplant surgeon. She is going as far as making sure that I have a specific anesthesiologist that she has worked with before that knows how the operations go and will automatically control any issues I am having on that end.

I also have a chance of going into liver failure after surgery, if they cannot turn it around medically there will be nothing else they can do. Because my cancer was not liver primary I do not qualify for a transplant.

Will need all the prayers and thoughts I can get. As always they are appreciated.

I am strong and have come this far in the battle. After being told the tumor was inoperable and all they could do was keep the cancer controlled to now having that operation and a chance to finally be cancer free. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and I am reaching for it with both hands.

I have fought long and hard for this, endured treatments that made me so sick I thought they were going to kill me. Chemo failure after chemo failure. I am so thankful for the immunotherapy that has gotten me to this point.

Hoping this is the beginning of finally feeling better. No more pain so I can get off the high amount of pain meds. No more fatigue so I can function and be there for Bean without having to take meds to keep me awake. A better happier time where my life isn't ruled by my illness.

Wow! I had no idea a left side resection could be that complicated. My husband might need the entire left side removed, as well. His surgeon tends to be very equivocating. Is your surgeon sure the tumor is attached to an artery? What would determine whether she needs to do the crazy rebuild procedure? I wish you all the best!

Hi ,
All the very best for your surgery . My mum had 73% of her liver removed . She was told the same information as you . She pressed forward . I said goodbye to her the day before her operation as though it was any other day . I gave her a little wave . She left a little folded guest towel on her bed and advised us she would be back to use it . Just a little symbol but it meant so much .
The only post surgery complication was an enormous amount of fluid gain, 42 pounds worth . She came home in maternity clothes and used her wee towel . Medication took care of the fluid .
We will be thinking if you as you set your face like flint and move forward to full recovery and NED !!!
Take care,
Stu
