mpbser wrote:Wow! I had no idea a left side resection could be that complicated. My husband might need the entire left side removed, as well. His surgeon tends to be very equivocating. Is your surgeon sure the tumor is attached to an artery? What would determine whether she needs to do the crazy rebuild procedure? I wish you all the best!

Yes, my tumor was 11 cm, is situated between the lobes of my liver and encompassed the entire vascular system before it shrunk thanks to keytruda. It still shows as very close to several major arteries but we have hit the plateau with the keytruda so now is the time to go in after it.

She said she will not know which procedure she needs to do until she gets in there and really looks at it. I'm hoping she can do just a standard resection but she said she will do what it takes to get clean margins.

I go to Levine Cancer Center in Charlotte NC. The surgery will be at the main hospital they work out of. Thankfully it is one of the higher ranking transplant hospitals so I have access to some amazing surgical teams.

So glad to hear of Larry's eviction notice. You will be in my thoughts and prayers for sometime to come. How is Bean taking all of this? I hope your ex is being helpful at this time.

All the best to you and your daughter.

Lee

Beans is hanging in there. I was prepared to press for the surgery if they wanted to delay it again because all of the delays were contributing to her anxiety. She actually is a bit better knowing it is happening. I have been spending every minute I can with her making special memories just in case.

That reminds me I need to finish up the letters to her for those special days in the future just in case.

Eh, he is being his usual self. I have a very good friend who has stepped in and has been a huge support to me. Originally he had a trip planned for that week and was still going to go. I don't know who chastised him out of it but now he says he will be here for Bean thankfully.

Woo, Hoo! Wow, what a range of emotions as you approach 10/5, and how incredibly exciting that you will finally get to evict Larry. Such a positive, funny woman. . .

Love that you take time to write those 'special letters' 'just in case.' I've started mine too. Do you hand write them? I am typing them up so I can edit them, and then I am going to use futureme.org to send them via email at selected times. My most important letters will be be written.

Hugs, and here's to you! Love your positive outlook!

Yes you can write those special letters to your daughter, butt know that you will give them to her personally as she grows up.

I think of that movie, Apollo 13, when they had to abort the mission and just try and get back to Earth. There is one scene, Gene Krantz, I believe is the character's name. He is talking to a group of people to come up with a solution to get the space craft back to Earth. One of the best scene as he says "Failure Is Not an Option".

You will make it through this surgery. If for no other reason than to give your ex a hard time.
