Hey friends,

as everybody knows my mum is going through adjuvant chemo, this is her last round of capox and she's experiencing some bleeding. Tomorrow she will see her oncologist to see what is going on there. I have read constipation may cause this and it can be due to Xelox? Anyone to help me here as we are concerned.

Thanks for reading.

Is she getting Avastin? Sometimes that can cause bleeding.

I too have a colostomy, sometimes it will slightly bleed. Is your mom's bleeding a lot?

When I had my temporary ileo my stoma bled a lot. Sometimes I would take the bag off to change and sit and watch as the stoma would bleed. There would also be blood in the bag sometimes. I had an appointment with the ostomy nurse, and the day before ended up in emergency with a bowel blockage. She did come visit me in the hospital, we took the bag off and sat and watched it bleed. She was kind of stumped and said she would look into maybe a different style apparatus. She said sometimes if it doesn't fit properly can irritate and cause bleeding. Well, I ended up having surgery to remove scar tissue that was causing the blockage and the doctor reversed the ileo so it became a non issue. Maybe your mom should make an appointment with an ostomy nurse. I'm not sure if a colostomy is different from ileostomy other than location, but maybe there is a better bag and flange system that may fit her better. I know there are many different types and the doctors usually initially give you one type.
