Colonoscopy on Monday. I have the best miralax prep but I hate the thought of doing this again. The gi dr didn’t want me to do it for another three years until I told him the cancer went to my liver and I had a resection. Then suddenly his smile faded and all willing to do it. I think cancer is mental torture. Stage 4 feels like waiting for the next show to drop. Geez.

I used to hate seeing the cloudy look that passed over their faces . It gets replaced over time though .

My husband was working with the surgeon who told her she was a stage 4 patient ten years ago when he was a junior doctor . He was so delighted to hear she was bouncing around .

Have a good weekend ,

Teacher2017, I work in a school district too. I was wondering if you were able to work during your FOLFOX treatments. I started my treatment in the end of June and am trying to figure out what I am going to do in the fall. Congrats on your recent test results. God bless!

Hi Nate33,
My husband is also a teacher and he did work through Folfox....he did have to take a day off every 2 weeks for treatment, but he did it and only had to take a handful of other days off due to symptoms. Of course everyone reacts differently....are you able to get FMLA in place as a back up? His principal suggested that....it’s a nice way to cover any absences without worry....good luck!!

Nate!

It wasn’t easy because it gets progressively worse on folfox. I did well on it. Had infusion on a Friday and was disconnected on Sunday. Monday I would take off if needed. It made me very tired but there were days I took off that I probably could have gone in and taken the Tuesday instead. Work was very understanding and accommodating. It’s doable. Talk to the principal and calculate how many days you estimate. Once Oxali stops, you feel a lot better. I never went in hooked up. I stayed home and sulked the entire time. You can do this! Keep in touch!
And go kick its ass!

Question on this teacher2017, what was the outcome from this bloody episode? I just finished my folfox cycle 2 and experienced bleeding as well, no bleeding since the resection until now.
thanks

Hi- after speaking with the gi, he said it was most definitely the chemo. He told me to treat it like a very bad hemorrhoid. Very bland food, soups, Metamucil each day, etc. It went away thank goodness. Your body is reacting to the chemo for sure. Tell the dr to be safe. You can do this! This will pass- you will get your life back and you will be okay. Keep saying it. Chemo is strong medicine. Let it do it’s job.
