So hard to tell with the ileostomy. I'm going to mention it to my onc tomorrow. It's been pretty regular in the mornings in the last week before I eat, and has happened a couple other times as well.

A high volume of liquid output is considered diarrhea with an ileostomy. Measure your output, anything over 1000 ml/day is diarrhea and you need to be careful of dehydration. Up your fluid intake.

Yes, you need to be able to recognize diarrhea while on ileostomy, and you need to know how to deal with dehydration in order to avoid serious kidney problems.

Thanks. It seems like it was just minor diarrhea and I'm not dehyrdrated. Been drinking a ton of water and some pedialyte and urinating normally.

Question regarding anemia. I was told that I had low iron counts this time but not enough to postpone chemo. The next one may be pushed back due to Christmas. I am wondering if it is normal? Perhaps still from the surgery? I had a bloody stool episode after this chemo and maybe I lost a lot of blood? I have no idea. Onc said we will avoid the shot if we postpone a week. I'm bummed but I get it. Big sigh...

My hemoglobin was always low. It tends to run on the low side of normal anyways. My oncologist prescribed ferrous sulfate. My hemoglobin was regular below 10 during chemotherapy.

I was severely anemic to start with, and have never gotten into the normal range. My numbers fluctuated during chemo. I take iron and vitamin C twice a day to help combat it.
