Neuropathy Treatment after Chemo

Postby Lovenothate » Fri Sep 01, 2017 4:52 pm

Hey everyone!

So my mom suffers from neuropathy that stayed behind after folfox last year. She says it's not too bad but it does annoy her. He oncologist referred her to a doctor who has been helping others with neuropathy. Supposedly the onc has referred many people in his center and out of around 40 of them each one has at least seen improvement from only stimulation. Super interesting.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

I've been thinking of looking into this. I was having physical therapy for my knee last spring and the therapist told me there is a treatment called dry needling used for neuropathy. It is done by a physical therapist, and need a prescription. I have also seen some doctors (mostly chiropractors) who advertise treatments for neuropathy that is med free. I am the same as your mom. It isn't painful but very annoying. Barefoot on hard services is when it's the worse and first thing in the morning. I don't like the meds makes me feel loopy.

Yeah my mom wasn't even thinking of looking into it since it's pretty much nerve damage but her onc just brought it up. Her appointment is coming up soon so I will for sure update what happens. Susie, perhaps there is a similar doctor around you who uses non invasive stimulation as well! Please keep me posted for sure!
