Reporting half way between the main campus and Katy. Things suck but with luck will reopen. I have an appointment Wednesday afternoon to discuss whether additional adjuvant chemo is worthwhile. My PCP says it's not. We'll see. MDA should be taking outpatient by then.

Got refugees in my house and helped 20 or so folks off rescue boats earlier. Things still suck but start getting better in a couple of days.

Houston’s health-care system struggles to treat patients as rising waters cut off access and supplies

https://www.wsj.com/articles/amid-harve ... 1503964322

Adi Diab, an MD Anderson melanoma specialist, walked 3 miles on Monday through 1-foot deep waters from his home to the hospital to attend to a patient undergoing an experimental cancer treatment. Dr. Diab and his colleagues had worried over the weekend that the storm would disrupt the patient’s scheduled treatment, which involves removing immune cells from the patient’s tumor, and re-engineering them to fight the cancer.

The re-engineered cells, which are grown by lab technicians, must be infused 10 days after the patient receives chemotherapy, and the cells can’t survive more than one day past the scheduled infusion, Dr. Diab said. Because Dr. Diab and his colleagues were able to make it to the hospital, the patient treatment would go forward as planned, according to Dr. Diab, who planned to stay at the hospital until late Monday evening.

Good article on the hospitals situation in Houston but it's behind a paywall.

No one can probably get to my work. The whole infrastructure of Harris County is in turmoil. I am not sure whether the facilities I work in, are under water or not ?
I'm sure someone will let me know soon, although my boss is being bombarded with more rain right now, and may have been displaced from his home, my best pressman may have had an order to evacuate, the owner of the company may be under water in Houston, not to mention the damage he suffered in Rockport, where he keeps his boat and vacation house. I just live far enough out of the city, to be on the good side of the storm, and apparently after the scare last night with my neighbors evacuating, some darn good drainage, as all was clear after the rain let up .

Thank you for helping, at 61 years old, little I can do. I wish a had a picture of the serious conditions where you are located, to express how much you did for others, while you could have sat around and ponder , I have cancer and now this !
You must be one hell of a man !

My radiation appointment got canceled today because of a problem with a server so I'm rescheduled for tomorrow. I'm not in Houston but it gives me a taste of stuff not getting done and getting backed up for really important medical appointments and care.

Bro Nut - Are you still dry in the hood? Watched videos of Katy, TX for quite awhile yesterday on the news after opening up the reservoirs + storm water coming down.
Was sure thinking of YOU & all your fellow Texans affected by this disaster.

Best Wishes
