Postby pdp497 » Sat Aug 26, 2017 9:43 am

I just received my second round of chemo (folfox) still wearing the 5-fu pack and Inhave noticed I'm irinating muchbmire frequently. I didn't notice this after the first round does anyone know if this is normal or a typical side effect?

I've just disconnected from treatment number 14 of 5FU, Leucovorin, Avastin (Oxy discontinued since 12) and throughout my treatments, I have experienced frequent urination, especially at night. This usually lasts from the time of infusion to a day or so after disconnect then returns to normal. I also have frothy or bubbly urine. I discussed it with my Onc and he ran some extra tests and found nothing unusual. I try to drink plenty of water during treatment plus those IV lines are adding saline or sugar water along with the fluid from the drugs. 5FU is excreted through the kidneys and it is likely your body flushing out the chemicals.

I wouldn't worry about it, but it is important to report all symptoms to your medical team so they can be documented and checked.

Yes, I pee so much its crazy - especially on and around infusion days.
I get pumped full of 5-6 bags of chemicals. - All fluids.

First session I think I took 6 trips to the can.
Now it's down to about 4 during treatments.

Also drinking the recommended 120-160 ounces of fluid per day will get things flowing.

Nurses at my center always tell me - "Well your kidneys are still functioning well".

I've seen some extra froth from time to time as well. Almost a beer like froth.
And I don't drink. LOL

It is normal. They are adding fluid to your body.
When I was at the Onc I couldn't even get through an infusion without having to pee. I would drag the IV tree into the bathroom with me. :)
