Stage I've colon cancer Add Vectibix

Postby Pdlk » Sat Aug 26, 2017 8:58 am

My sister , age 63, has Stage IV colon cancer, signet cell. She has had 3 Fofox treatments with fatigue the only real side effect. Her tumor is found to be sensitive to vectibix and the oncologist wants to start it. My sister is considering refusing the Vectibix due to side effects she has read about? I feel we/she should at least treany treatment that may increase longevity Thoughts?

Hi there,

My Mum had lots of Vectibix and as far as we were concerned it is a miracle drug. It gave her 2 years she wouldn't have had without it. She was a stage 4b from diagnosis with mets across all her body and after adding vectibix she actually went on complete remission for a while. She did have side effects, the worst being constant toe nails infections that were a misery, but there are things you can do about it and absolutely not everyone gets them so bad. It is youir sister's decision of course but I hope she will change her mind.

All the best to you

For my mind set I keep telling myself that any side effects I have are only temporary.

The only side effect I fear is neuropathy as that has the possibility of permanency. Once this cancer's ass is kicked, the side effects will fade away. For myself, these side effects I'm getting are worth the chance of seeing all my grandchildren graduate high school.

That's my goal.
