Hello everyone
My name is dayana I'm 25 yo I am a heavy drinker and smoker have been for the past 10 years
About 6months ago I started having explosive diarrhea and some bleeding then my stools are very thin and I feel like I have to go all the time in the past two weeks I have been constipated and have some mild abdominal pain and cramping
When I gotta go I gotta go but sometimes nothing comes out my stools are still extremely thin
I am overweight and I've never had a healthy diet
I told my Dr this but she didn't even check she just said I was too young for this disease
I can't go to another Dr cause I have medical and I was assigned to her
Idk what to do I keep telling her I know something is wrong but she said I'm a hypochondriac and I need to stay away from google
I know something is wrong and the thought of leaving my children behind breaks my heart.
Should I exaggerate my symptoms so she can be as concerned as I am?
Did any of you have the same symptoms as I do and was it something else ?
I'm sorry to bother you guys but I can't talk to anyone about this cause everyone thinks I'm just being dramatic

Adults usually don't get colorectal cancer at your age unless they have a genetic issue like Lynch Syndrome. The best approach would be to get a colonoscopy where they put a tube in and examine your rectum and colon looking for problems. There could be various things causing your problems and a colonoscopy should find them.

Yes,

If you have blood just get a scope. Demand it.
Then you'll know why there is blood, regardless if its cancer, colitis, Diverticulitis, chrones - or hemis/fissure.
Then you make a plan based upon that.

I didn't understand this so thought about it and I think that you have Medi-Cal, the California medical program for low-income residents. I had a look at some Medi-Cal literature and there are two forms: regular Medi-Cal where you find your own service providers that accept Medi-Cal and Medi-Cal Health Plans which are managed care plans, similar to an HMO. You appear to have the latter. So you need to be able to go to your doctor and make the case for a colonoscopy as ben stated.

Perhaps someone here familiar with Medi-Cal Health Plans could provide some suggestions in dealing with Medi-Cal PCPs.

Hi Dayana. So sorry to hear you are having such scary symptoms. I'm sure they aren't fun at all! <:- )
If it makes you feel any better, my symptoms were nothing like yours. Also your symptoms could be lots of other things. Because there is some bleeding, I would definitely try to push for a colonoscopy just to be safe. Yes, 25 is VERY young for colon cancer, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Chances are you have something completely unrelated going on, but it never hurts to err on the side of caution. So I'd say if you are in some type of health care system where a doctor is assigned to you and you have no choice or options for second opinions, I'd try to have a serious conversation with my doctor about ruling out something potentially dangerous even if you are being overly worried. At least then you would know, and could take some comfort in knowing what it's not, even if you don't know what it is. If she won't listen, go to a hospital and see if you can get them to agree to checking you out there. Or try an extended care facility. Or call a gastroenterologist and see if you can get them to convince your doctor to at least let you be screened.

As for exaggerating your symptoms, I don't recommend it only because you could impact getting the care you really do need. Try to be up front with them, but also stand up for yourself. Doctors don't always listen, but even if someone is a hypochondriac, that doesn't mean symptoms shouldn't be taken seriously.

Best of luck Dayana, and hopefully you will find out this is nothing serious. I will keep you in thoughts and prayers.

Tracy

If you haven't already done so, tell them a close relative has cancer. This might facilitate at least a colonoscopy. Good luck, and I hope it is just hypochondria. :)
