Wanted to stand and cheer for the guy today

Postby Volfan » Tue Aug 22, 2017 3:24 am

A guy across from me today was getting the same treatment as I am.
He's having trouble with constipation. He asked the chemo nurse if she could get his doctors nurse for some questions. Doctors are real close to the treatment areas.
When she showed up he went over his problem. She started the run down of foods and drinks. Then moved on to stool softener and miralax. He said he tried it all none of it worked.
The guy was nice and polite the whole time but he told the nurse I'm not leaving today until we come up something for the constipation. He told her I have a hard time believing there isn't something you can give. He said look around y'all are killing cancer but we haven't developed something so I can poop. It was at this point I wanted to stand and clap.
She left then came back with some kind of prescription for him in which he was very grateful. He looked and me and smiled. He had that look of I might have some relief this week.

It's 4:22am. Got to love the steroids on chemo day. :D

I would suggest, drink more liquids. Sometimes if you don't drink enough, constipation can happen and on chemo, you can lose a lot of liquid at once. I always up my liquid intake a day or two prior to infusion.

Hope things get better for him.
