So I am a little nervous as I had to fight real hard to get this approved by my doctor's and insurance to cover it. I had to go in for a 2nd opinion and they finally approved it. I will be doing the Prep the night before and the colonoscopy will take place Friday morning at around 8:30 a.m. I chose the propofol approach and a little nervous. Here is my background. Mother got diagnosed this past May 2017 with Stage 3A Rectal cancer. I experienced having hemorrhoids towards the end of my pregnancy about 5 years ago.
In 2014 when I was going to college full time, working two jobs and under tremendous stress. I was making very good income, and didn't want my job to interfere with my health. I chose money over health at that time cause it was nice paying off debt and taking a nice all inclusive vacation. I didn't have insurance at the time and experienced a bulging painful hemmy that got worst with over the counter medication. I went to the college medical clinic and it was so infected that the doctor gave me a rectal exam and I just bursted out crying in so much pain. He had to prescribe me this cream cause I had a rash around my rectum from infection. I remember one time just laying in the sitz tub in tears and feeling the hemmy and pulsating to my heart beat, I thought it was going to explode and prayed the pain would just go away. I had to lay in bed for several days so I could not put pressure on it by standing. Standing made it worst. Not sure why I didn't go to the ER, but the only thing that would take the pain away was some strong coating pain killer medicine and I got Proctozone and that seem to shrink it. Since then, I can control them with Tucks pads and Proctozone (HYDROCORTISONE ). I call it the "Magic cream" cause it's the only thing that works for me. I get the occasional irritation but I can control them now.
What I keep wondering is if that bulging pain was a tumor and not a hemorrhoid. I did bleed while I had a BM a little. I was so worried but nervous at the same time. I wanted to reach out to see if any of you with colorectal cancer experienced the same thing I did thinking it was a hemmy but ended up with a tumor. What were you signs and symptoms? This is nerve racking and why the heck they make you wait until 50 to get screened? They need to change it to 40 don't you think? Too many people are getting diagnosed earlier in age.
Thank you for sharing and wish me luck!!
