Just arrived here......

Postby KatieKins » Fri Aug 11, 2017 4:38 am

Hi everyone; I just found this website - I hope you will accept me to your group.
On 18 April a tumour was found in my bowel, I was rushed through scans and told by the surgeon that I had a neuroendocrine tumour in my appendix with suspected spread to my pancreas. On 31 May I had a right hemicolectomy to remove the tumour.
I had to wait 10 days for my diagnosis, which came back to be endometriosis of the appendix - it had caused the appendix to collapse on itself and attach to the inside of my colon wall. I am very fortunate to not have received the cancer diagnosis, but I have still had major bowel surgery and feel so alone in adapting to my new situation; do you think you could accept me here? I may not have first hand experience of colon cancer but I will do my best to be a listening ear and hope that someone might do the same for me?
Thanks for reading.

As Groucho Marx said: "I don't want to belong to any club that will accept people like me as a member." But here we are anyway. :D Welcome. We've found on here that one person can shine a light for the rest. Andre

I assume that you had "right hemicolectomy" surgery similar to quite a few people on this forum.

In this case your experience should also be similar.
You can search this forum for "right hemicolectomy" for tips on diet and recovery.
58 yo male at diagnosis - T1bN0, 0/15 lymph nodes, low grade/moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma
03/2016 colonoscopy #1: 2 small polyps removed in left colon; CEA = 1.3
04/2016 colonoscopy #2: caecum sessile 3.5 cm polyp piecemeal removed
05/2016 CT scan, blood test ...
05/2016 laparoscopic right hemicolectomy with a few complications (bleeding, leak, infection)
06/2017 CT scan, colonoscopy OK; CEA = 1.6
