Beyond Terrifyed:(

Postby D1991 » Wed Aug 09, 2017 11:06 am

I don't want to give my name just incase my family comes across this...
Im 25 and a guy with no knowen gastrointestinal problems. About a month ago i had a 11 day bout of diariah and then constipation for 10 days after that i have been seeing some blood in my poop especialy the last 2 days. I tried to get some for my FIT test. But my stool was very sticky. Dont worry ive seen my docto4 but she is fairly sure its not colon cancer given my age and has reccomended me to a stoumach doctor not sure what they are called for a colonoscopy. I am very very very afraid :( i don't know how to get my mind off this while i wait. Could this be anything else?

Hi and welcome,

First take a deep breath. Your symptoms could be caused by many different things, cancer is just one possibility. I don't think you have cancer either. BUTT by the shear fact you have/had blood in your stool, yes you should have a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy will give you a true diagnoses of what is going on, anything else is just a speculation. You need to see a GI doc for the colonoscopy

If I am reading your post correctly, you have been referred for a colonoscopy, that is good.

For what it's worth, I had no symptoms other than bleeding hemorrhoids. Every test that should have been a warning for cancer came back normal. My doctor figured my hemorrhoids were my excuse for getting my baseline colonoscopy early in life. I felt perfectly fine when I was diagnosed.

Many years prior, my mother ended up in the ER with rectal bleeding and stomach pain. ER doc was thinking colon cancer. They did a scope, no cancer, not even one polyp, just a bad case of diverticulosis.

So try not to worry, butt get that scope and come back and let us know.

I'm going to second Lee's comment. Despite what the internet may tell you....it is far more likely to be something other than cancer. So try not to worry. That being said you are doing the right thing and should insist on the colonoscopy to rule out Cancer and find out whats going on.

Good luck
