Capox Cycle

Postby Prop321 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 10:16 am

Hi, my wife was diagnosed with rectal cancer in March 2017 with suspected nodal involvement and T4, M0.
She has completed 5week neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by APR resection a month ago. The histology report say ypT2N0.
Today our oncologist recommend adjuvant chemo with Capox. I asked if it is a standard 3 week cycle but he said it will be 2 week cycle for 6 months i.e. Oxaliplation day one, xeloda 10 days with 4 days rest for each cycle.

Anyone has familiar with this type of Capox regimen/cycle?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I took FOLFOX which was 1 day with Oxaliplation followed up with a pump for 46 hrs which had 5FU in it. I did this every other week for 6 months. I believe the Xeloda is the pill formula of 5FU. Taking Xeloda was not an option for me as it was not available when I started chemo.

I have heard of 2 weeks and 3 weeks with Capox, I believe they are treating your wife aggressively with this 2 week plan, butt I could be wrong. Butt I believe her regiment is mostly standard care regarding rectal cancer.

If you have concerns, by all means get a 2nd opinion at a major cancer treatment center to make sure everyone is on the same page. Sometimes, these 2nd opinions can be done over the phone.

Good luck, hope this helps,
