Reading this took my breath away, I was so shocked !
Eric joined the group just after me, I've known him from the start of his and my journey,
He cycled through his treatment, I did not, he carried on gardening, he told us about delicious Edamine beans (I'd never heard of them) & he chopped wood boy he chopped so much wood, & he cycled somemore ...he lived !
He was my colon cancer hero ! why has he gone & I'm still here !
I'm so very sad ! I'll always remember him even though we never met.
My heart breaks for his family, & I hope they know how much he was loved on this forum.....

This is very selfish, butt I'm gonna miss his garden pic. Erik knew how to grow a BEAUTIFUL garden. He inspired me to to grow tomatoes, egg plants and peppers. When ever I see a beautiful garden I will always think of him.

Rest in peace, dear Eric.

Know that you inspired many people in many ways,

So sorry to hear about Eric's passing. I'm another person who hasn't posted in years, but occasionally check in... and I was always happy to see any posts from BrownBagger. When I checked in yesterday and saw the news, it took my breath away. He was always someone I admired and looked up to in terms of dealing with his illness as well as living the most active, engaged life possible. My deepest condolences to all his loved ones. He left a legacy of kindness and vibrancy that will echo for a long, long time. Peace and comfort to all who are grieving his death.

OMG, Eric was one of my heros from my early days on this site. He was such a vibrant and active man - a great example for many of us. I was sure he would be one of the lucky ones who would beat the beast and die at a ripe old age. What a shock. I am so sorry to hear this.

RIP old friend and thank you for the help you gave along the way.

I too only check in anymore every month or so, busy with life which is kind of the whole point behind treatment, but I have always enjoyed Brownbagger's posts and over all decency.

SO very sorry to see this. He always seemed undefeatable... and I think because of the impact he's had here, he is. Loved his positivity, and his gardening reports. He was and will always be an inspiration. RIP and thank you BrownBagger!

I dread this thread getting to the second page. I want to keep it front and center. Everyday I want to see how much Eric meant to others. I know how much he meant to me. I read each new post and am not one bit surprised at the impression he made on each and every one of us.

I, like everyone else have been so sad about BBs passing. He had great threads going when I joined in 2011, and his humor was one of the first things that grabbed me. I know people often don't want to be called an inspiration but that's what he was, so many treatments and all of those miles on his bike. I often thought he did so well because of his bike riding and liked to share his story to others for encouragement. I just expected him to keep going....He will be missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. Soar in peace Brown Bagger.
