Xeloda vs. flea bites?

Postby ocstacy » Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:06 pm

Hi all,

My mother is on almost week 3 with Xeloda. I know they mentioned the hand and foot rash syndrome. The other day, my mother had her house bombed for fleas. I looked at her feet and they didn't look like flea bites. I mean she may have had two flea bites but I kept telling her that it was probably the side effects kicking in.

Did your rash start out as an itchy rash or bug bite type of rash on feet? (like flea bites?) She also has them on side of torso and radiation area. I know this all can be answered by the dr. or nurses, but to me it looks like side effects. We put the Utterly smooth lotion on feet and hands. I keep reminder her to moisturize daily and the radiation pelvic area.

Thank you,

Stacy

Could it be dust mites instead of flea bites???

I never had a rash from Xeloda - peeling skin on feet and hands, shiny hands and dark cuticles. Hot hands and feet.

I'm thinking the rash is something else and should be checked out by your doc.

No rash for me either. Just very red, hot and swollen hands and feet.

Since you said this rash is on her torso and radiation area in addition to her feet, it sounds like an allergic reaction to something. Definitely call her oncologist's office and notify them before continuing to take Xeloda.

Thank you all. It may be a combination of both Xeloda side effects and fleas. She does say her feet feel hot.. and tingly. We see the dr. tom and I am going with her. I will keep you posted!

Update: Oncologist does not think it's flea bites but def. a side effect from Xeloda. It's not bothering her that bad. She will be seen again tom. :-) Thank you,
