I have flown after having my port installed, i think it has only been noticed twice, and it was patted once, and i just quickly said what it was and the TSA asked no further questions. The port is pretty useful to protect your veins, also you don't feel the poke of the needle. However, folfox require 48 hour continuous infusions and I had 12 cycles of that, so compared to just 5, two hour infusions of oxaliplatin it is up to you if you think it is worth it. It will cause an additional cancer, and it should take about three weeks to get used to.
