My DH had very bad pleural effusions and very badly swollen legs last year after surgery. It took two draws in early December to get the lungs clear and 2 months for the leg swelling to go down. So far, it has not returned even tho' one of the surgeons said it probably would. I stuffed him full of protein for many months with the thought that maybe his liver could process some of it and thus prevent the effusions. Fingers crossed that this will continue.
