Swimming Pools and Hot Tubs/Spas

I've lived in apartment complexes with pools and hot tubs that have signs at the front gate warning about possible cancer risks due to the chemicals used in the pool area. Same for the gym area inside (probably due to the rubber mats and other things and the toxic chemicals used to produce them).

I was just wondering if anyone knows whether this is a real risk, especially for those who have been finished with chemo for a few years but aren't out of the woods yet?

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 163502.htm - here is an article I found from 2010 - Swimming in indoor chlorinated pools may induce genotoxicity (DNA damage that may lead to cancer) as well as respiratory effects, but the positive health effects of swimming can be maintained by reducing pool levels of the chemicals behind these potential health risks, according to a new study.

Thanks! Interesting they seem to specify indoor as opposed to swimming pools in general (indoor or outdoor)

Do you live in California? Almost everything in CA has "may cause cancer" warnings due to over-compliance with CA Prop 65:

My sense is: not a real risk. Go swimming!

GO swimming, as far as a hot tub I personal would not stick a foot in one.
And yes in California we have those warnings on almost every building even the hospitals and grocery stores have them.

We live in Canada but my son just read me the label on a bottled water we got at Costco and it has the label saying the state of California recognizes that the contents of this product can cause cancer and birth defects. I'm assuming that it means the bottle and not the water lol, but it is on everything. Even lots of products in Caanda.
