FOLFOX lingering symptoms

Postby Basil » Wed Jul 05, 2017 10:34 pm

I'm sure this is on here somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it.

I conpleted six rounds last week and have a little break before surgery. Any basics on recovery time from chemo?

At twelve days out the acute effects are mostly gone but there mmis lingering slight neuropathy and fatigue. I've found I can feel pretty good - about 80% or so - and then out of the blue have a bad day - tired, slightly nauseous and little appetite. Is this normal? Anything similar?

Hi Basil, I finished 12 rounds in the middle of February. Recovery for appetite and taste was about a month. I started to get more energy and joy in life once I started enjoying food again. :) I still have low hemoglobin so I don't feel 100%. The neuropathy in my feet has gotten worse since stopping chemo but it doesn't really affect life. I hope that you can some good time in before your surgery.

Appetite took about 6 weeks for me. We had gone out to dinner at a new restaurant. Thought it was some of the BEST food I ever tasted. DH looked at me strangely, said it was good, butt not that good. Realized my taste buds had returned. To this day, I still love there food.

I remember feeling better 2 weeks out, butt to fully recover from 12 cycles took pretty much a year to two.

Good luck with your up coming surgery. Remember to walk, walk, walk those hospital halls.

My neurophthy continued to get worse for about three months after chemo. I've heard this refered to as "coasting." After that it has slowly been improving over the last two months and I optimistic that it will be a memory soon.
