Weakness and Pain after Coloanal Anastomosis, protectomy

Postby nitin.goyal » Sun Jul 02, 2017 4:23 am

My dad had Coloanal Anastomosis with protectomy procedure 4 weeks back. he is 55.

Since the surgery, he has become very weak and not feel like eating anything. He has type-2 diabetes as well since last 3 years.
he has temporary illestomy which the Surgeon said will be removed after 6-8 weeks or later depending on healing.

I am not sure if this much weakness is OK?

Also, along with the Ostomy bad on his right side, there are two holes in the left, one for catheter and another for mucus drain. 2 days back they have removed mucus drain but we see mucus leaking from that. I am not sure if that is normal or not.

Me and dad having a harrowing time due to mucus leaks and low energy in him and he kept on feeling pain. Very sleepless.

As per surgeon, his wound is healing well and he should be moving around but its very difficult for him to move more than 10 mins.

What best thing I can do here?

I don't have at experience with this by I'm sure sorry your dad is so uncomfortable. I've had a drain other area and it's no fun. When I had tiredness with it it was because of fever.
Hopefully some one will jump on with more help.
