The GemCarb chemo is a deceptive critter. Folfox is in your face from Day 1.Gemcarb lulls you into a false sense of security, up to the point when you realize that your Haemoglobin level is 71g/l ( a bit more than half the minimum normal). It leaves you very tired and breathless . Not a chemo for an 86 year old.
I see my oncologist on Wednesday ( I had a PET scan last Friday). It's getting interesting now and I expect to be more of a participant in the decision making.

06/2016 Went in for colonoscopy came out with a tumor. Age 35
12cm from verge at junction. Rectal cancer.
Clinical stage T3 NO MO
Temp illestomy
Completed 5FU and Radiation
LAR surgery planned 13 Oct 2016
Completed ULAR surgery 11-10-2016.

Pathology reviewed and changed

Started folfox 21-11-2016

stage III C - 6/13 lymph positive
radiation - 6 weeks
surgery - August 2004/hernia repair 2014
permanent colostomy
chemo - FOLFOX
NED - 16 years and counting!

Folfox complete 30/01/08
7 years NED
Port scheduled for removal 8/02/10 Gone.
PSA .54 No prostate problems
Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic
SO diagnosed CC Stage IV Liver Mets 23/03/15
