Is it ok to share good reports while getting chemo treatment

Postby Volfan » Thu Jun 22, 2017 2:14 pm

I got good news from my first scan since treatment was started. What I'm wondering is when you are sitting in there getting chemo and chit chatting with everyone do you share that news?

I do want to share my good news if it's ok.
This Tuesday I got the results from my first scan since treatment was started. It shows the cancer hasn't spread and my tumors have shrunk around 40%. My cea is also down from 44 to 9.6.
I have rectal tumor with 2 liver mets.
My energy level is back to before the cancer diagnosis except for the day after chemo and doc is allowing me to return to work on Monday.
Stage IV Rectal cancer with liver mets
Oxaliplatin, avastin, 5fu
48 yr dude

I would yes if you already know the person and their history. If it's a complete stranger who just got some bad news, might be a bit hard for this stranger to swallow.

Butt by all means, pass it along here and CONGRATULATIONS on your good news. That the best kind of news :D .

I'm in a very early Phase of my Chemo treatment and I must say, I love hearing good news!

It gives me so much hope, to see people getting along with treatment and hearing about those suckers shrinking! I guess I would yell it to the world to hear :D

Congratulations by the way!

Just as Lee as noted, just try to be sensitive if some bad news just have arrived in the room.

When I was out of surgery I had a room with a lady who had peritoneal carcinomatosis just about everywhere after an HIPEC gone South and everything was really hard on her, so I tried to keep my happiness to myself, about being tumor free for the time being and my very successful surgery...

She was very gracious about everything and
I could see that she was happy for me, being so young and having a baby daughter and all.

You have the right of being happy as well and live this positiveness in this moment of your life... specially in this moment!

I hope that your metastases evaporate soon enough and that you can take out (pun intended xD) that rectum in no time!

All the best,
Ana

Yes please do share good news here, I love hearing other people's good news
We're all in this stupid cancer boat together so hearing someone made it safely to shore or at least some of the way there is ALWAYS encouraging

To me anyway, maybe not everyone feels that way, I even like hearing others good news when things haven't been rosey for me,gives me a lift but I'd take my queue from whoever I was talking to in the infusion center, see how they are doing first maybe 8)

Well, we share good news of people becoming engaged to marry, when we all know someone who
has just gotten divorced. News of a baby's arrival, when there has been a death in the family.
Celebrate a promotion when another has been retrenched....
......why make cancer the exception to the cycle of human experience and communication?

being in a place where so many people have already received the bad news of having cancer, I soak up every bit of good news I can. The nurses at my office throw a party for people on their last day of chemo and it always makes me smile.
