Lung met treatment experience

DH has a few lung mets under a cm. He had one ablated a few weeks ago due to size. Currently no plans to put him back on chemo. He's been off chemo since June 2016. Is this normal? We went to sloane and Yale and they said the same thing - wait and maybe put him back on chemo in 6 months or so.

Anyone experience this?

With a stage IV diagnoses, I understand your concern. I know in a few situation, they do not follow up with chemo after having something removed. Maybe they figured these tumors were slowing growing and felt they got them all.

Good that you got many opinions, because if this was me, I think I would have ask for chemo also.

All the best,

Lee

Somehow I thought they got them all. Many years ago I was told in some situations they know something is cancer, butt because it is small and is not doing anything they don't want to muck with it.

This happened to a friend of mine. They were 99% sure it was cancer, but it was small, had not changed in many years, and they did not want to test it. This was before PET scans. Just wait and see. They led her to believe that it probably would not grow any more. Last I heard it was still not growing.

Hope this helps,

Lee

Do they know these were cancer and not just benign nodules?

There are 4 in total. One was removed via RFA about a month ago. One is growing and other two are new nodules just discovered.

I don't know if this helps but just came across today with an immuno trial, combination with Avastin and Folfox. It is for just diagnosed metastatic CRC BUT allows also those who had chemo more than one year ago.

* New trial.
* NCT03176264
* Anti PD-1 (immunotherapy)+ Avastin + Folfox as FIRST LINE Therapy in Patients With Metastatic MSS Colorectal Cancer

"PDR001 in Combination With Bevacizumab and mFOLFOX6 as First Line Therapy in Patients With Metastatic MSS Colorectal Cancer"

* Important:
Patients who are naïve to systemic treatment in metastatic setting. Patients with previous neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy (that may have included oxaliplatin or investigational VEGF inhibitors) are eligible if the treatment was completed > 12 months before inclusion.

* "Particular attention will be paid to the level of activity of study drug combinations in CMS4 patients (retrospective analysis)."
They have not disclosed locations yet, but might be something you want to keep an eye on.
