A sore bottom- diaper rash med recommendation?

My bottom is sore almost like before surgery last year. I recently had a colonoscopy and a CT scan- so no obvious problem. (CEA is not in the normal range but it isn't too high either.)

Is there any ointment that you recommend? I'm using butt paste now. I am still going to the restroom 6-8 times a day. The butt is sore.

LOL what exactly is this Butt Paste?

So far I've not used anything, but Nurse recommended Desitin to me this past week when I started developing diarrhea.
I did get some in case it keeps happening. Otherwise I generally hop directly into the shower and use my removable shower head to thoroughly clean and sooth.

Are you using wipes instead of tp? There are also bidet attachments you can hook up fairly easily to your toilet.

The tp that I like is Cottonelle with aloe. Easier on the tushie.

Are you using regular or extra-strength butt paste? Regular worked for some of my kids, but the last one needed extra-strength.

Boudreaux Butt Paste: http://www.buttpaste.com

Using toilet paper is irritating to skin that is already irritated by going multiple times a day. Consider using a squirt bottle of water to clean up (https://www.amazon.com/Medline-Perineal ... B01M2BKNLE), or soft wet wipes (and note that wipes are hard on sanitation systems because they don't dissolve). I found that even wet wipes were too much for me, so sometimes dampened TP worked better.

Sitz baths or a soak in the tub in a Epsom salt bath can both be helpful.

Been there. My gastroenterologist recommended Destin. A chemo nurse suggested A&D ointment. Both worked about the same for me. Keeping the area clean & dry is the key: wet wipes and a blow dryer after each seating.

Barrier cream wipes work well and are not greasy. You can find them on Amazon. I clean up first then apply the barrier wipe. Don't flush the wipes.

well, no diaper cream works better than wash and let dry - experience from treating my son's diaper rash.

I have a colostomy, so my situation is totally different, butt I used A&D Ointment for other reasons. Butt they are for diaper rash & skin protection. Maybe worth a try.

Hope it gets better,

Lee

I used Aquaphor when my butt started catching on fire from going a ton of times a day.

I second the use of a bidet. I'm 4 years post reversal and I made sure I had one installed on my toilet before my reversal - it's a godsend. Barriers can make it hard to get your bum clean - they smear. The bidet gets most of the mess off and I just then blot and dry after. It's the rubbing that's really hard on the rear. That's my suggestion.
