Surgery went well. In addition to the LAR and ileostomy, my surgeon also felt that my ovaries needed to be removed. I've already been for a walk, with plans for another later tonight. My mom and husband just left, so I'm goin to try to get some rest.

So glad things went well for you, and that you were able to get up and walking already. That's the best thing you can do. Hope things continue to go well with your recovery. :)

Hugs and Prayers,
Tracy

Glad your surgery is behind you. I too had my ovaries remove during my surgery. Walk those halls. And take care of yourself.

One day at a time,

Lee

Walking helps a lot. And to help the recovery, keep yourself hydrated. Almost every nurse emphasized the importance of drinking enough fluid. Wish you a quick recovery.

Do you have children? How are you feeling about the loss of your ovaries? I wasn't upset about losing mine in the cancer journey as I never wanted to have children anyway, but I know fertility is such a big issue for many young women with cancer.

I feel fine about it. I had even talked to my mom about the possibility the night before. When the surgeon called the waiting room about it, she told him that I said I was ok with cutting out anything he felt neccessary.

Congrats on getting through surgery; we're close to being diagnosis buddies; see my history below.

I'm set for surgery in August when, if all goes well, I will be NED and the waiting game begins.
