barely above normal WBC count

Postby CatzinDJ » Sat Jun 10, 2017 5:21 pm

I forgot to ask this question but my WBC count is just above normal. My CEA has risen to 5.8 but the cat scan and the colonoscopy showed no reason for immediate concern. I will have another scope next year.

Does a low WBC count and a slightly higher than normal CEA mean anything?

Which method is being used to test your CEA? Has it always been the same method? same lab? same time of day for blood draw? Are you a smoker?

There are many things that can influence CEA.

If you had radiation treatment you'll likely have blood counts on the low end of normal for the rest of your life. There's a lot of bone in the pelvic area and radiation zaps the marrow.
