Doctor recommendations..Georgia

Postby Missy9579 » Sat Jun 10, 2017 9:40 am

Hello all!!

My family, due to my husband's medical condition and being out of work now, is considering a move to Georgia... Cummings is the city....it seems overwhelming to try and pin down a doctor/hospital team as wonderful as we have gathered here in CT....

I know NOT CTCA...but would anyone have any recommendations on an oncologist near there, and the best hospital that we would want to be seen at?

Thank you!

Hi Missy

We are in Georgia and go to Piedmont cancer center just on the outskirts of Atlanta
The staff are fantastic, the infusion center is bright, clean and spacious. Our oncologist is great and they are affiliated with MD Anderson. I highly recommend them.

I am patient of Piedmont Cancer Center. Dr.Ballard is my local oncologist. He is a good, old friend of Dr. Kemeny from MSKCC. They cooperate and exchange patients to make treatment as convenient as possible. I am being seen by both Dr. Ballard and Dr. Kemeny.
The nurses are all nice, warm. They have been my cheerleaders and friends during chemo. When I come back for pump flash I feel always welcome.

I would not suggest Gainesville. We have had some serious issues with the hospital there.
DH - dx Dec 2014, stage IV with bladder & peritoneal involvement - non-resectable
Colostomy
FOLFOX failed
FOLFIRI failed
Tumor actually distending pelvic skin
Not a candidate for last-ditch pelvic exenteration
Stivarga finally begun 2/19/16
Tumor growing/fungating
Lonsurf started 11/18/16
Died 3/10/17
