Would a transverse tumor/polyp/cancer cause fresh bleeding?

Or is this more sigmoid/rectum?

I'm not sure about one compared to the other but my husband's tumor was located at the transverse-descending junction and it caused bleeding. It was primarily occult but he did have visible blood in stool occasionally.

Like fresh, red blood? My mom's tumor is in transverse but not sure its the cause of fresh red bleeding (like hemorrhoids).

Fresh red blood is usually from the rectum or near it. And yes, it can come from bleeding hemorrhoids. Further up the colon if there is bleeding usually turns the stool a very dark color.

Does your mom have colon cancer? I believe at one you were concerned for yourself? If you could add a signature line, it would help the rest of us understand what's going on.

Good luck,

Personally I had a tumour in my transverse and one in my sigmoid at diagnosis, and never had any bleeding...sorry, this probably wasn't very helpful. Maybe it's hemmoroids or closer to the rectum as mentioned above.

It confusing to say what caused it but its not tumour. Might be the rectum or near area from hemmoroids causing the issue.

"Fresh red blood is usually from the rectum or near it. And yes, it can come from bleeding hemorrhoids. Further up the colon if there is bleeding usually turns the stool a very dark color."

This is correct. However, there were two times in the past couple of years that my husband had visible blood in his stool. One time it was a very dark color, and the other time he thought looked like the same kind of bleeding he had a few years back when he had a hemorrhoid, i.e. was more fresh in appearance.

My take on this is that there often are hardly any signs that indicate a presence of colon cancer. And although blood in stool is suspect, it is also easily caused by hemorrhoids or fissures. Moreover, when it is from anything further up in the colon, it is hardly visible. And although a lab test may better indicate any presence of blood, a colonoscopy is still needed to be conclusive. The most common advise that you'll find here, also will say to have a colonoscopy (and to stay off Google).

You already had one (and a sigmoidoscopy too) when you were worried in 2015, you said, and results were normal.
As you can see from my signature I had one at my request in 2015 too. In May (2017), my docs agreed with having a next one not earlier than 3-yrs later / in 2018. That was at my request with my history of advanced (stage IV) cancer.

I'd say: Relax; try to stop worrying.
And possibly work on your stool: eat fibers / make sure you drink enough.

Best wishes
Leon

Red blood can be from.anywhere in the colon, so it could be from the tumor.

Colostomy
FOLFOX failed

Tumor actually distending pelvic skin
Not a candidate for last-ditch pelvic exenteration

Yes to what Leon said. Thank you, Leon, I believe Mom and Aunt are probably the same person, was confused for a bit there. Anyway, Lemoncake, I believe Leon said it best here.

All the best to you,
