Fertility drugs and colon cancer

Postby CatzinDJ » Tue Jun 06, 2017 2:41 am

I read an article on a facebook group where a doctor is trying to link colon cancer with egg donation (and I'm taking it one step further to say fertility drugs in general). She thinks the fertility drugs caused her daughter to get colon cancer at a young age.

Is there any science behind this?

How many young women in this group were on fertility drugs? (I was on them- I have one child.) I personally don't think she's right, because I see both young men and women getting diagnosed and posting here. But I am curious if others have felt that the fertility drugs caused colon cancer.

Could it have something to do with nanoparticles?

One doctor claiming such link on the basis of one case?
It has nothing to do with science.
It's about money and a lawsuit against a pharmaceutical company.
58 yo male at diagnosis: T1bN0M0, 0/15 nodes, low grade/moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma
03/2016 colonoscopy: 2 small polyps removed in left colon; CEA = 1.3
04/2016 colonoscopy: caecum sessile 3.5 cm polyp piecemeal removed with kind of clear margins
05/2016 "prophylactic" laparoscopic right hemicolectomy - bleeding, leak, infection
06/2017 CT scan, colonoscopy OK; CEA = 1.6
A lot of funny stuff discovered by CT scans in liver, kidney, lungs, arteries, gallbladder, lymph node, pancreas

I was on fertility drugs 3 times and got colon cancer.

I associate my cancer with the fertility meds. I remember at least 2 women on the forum with the same story as mine.

Doctors at MSKCC do not agree to give hormonal meds to colon cancer patients at any condition. I have had endometriosis and landed on Lupron Depot after unsuccessful attempt of removing my ovaries due to endometrial cysts.
I believe there is a link between fertility treatment, very high estrogen levels during treatment and cancer.

I know women from fertility forum who ended with cancer soon after giving birth to children. Some are long gone :(
