I had the prep work for the whipple procedure because during my right hemi surgery, a mass of lymph nodes right under my pancreas didn't look good on my CT scan or when my surgeon got in there so he prepped my pancreas (whatever that means) and really scrapped out the area. 4 nodes found there were cancerous. He was able to remove 50 nodes during surgery. It definitely added to my pain during recovery but I proved them all wrong and instead of being in the hospital for 10 days, they let me go after 3! Was a bitch though. I had a nasty c-diff infection after my appendectomy( how I found out I had cancer) the weeks before my surgery and he thinks the massive swelling of my colon pushed the cancer cells to travel up there. Hoping he got them all because makes me nervous how far they traveled.
