When was this CEA test done (7.0)

When I was on chemo, one of my Dr ordered a CEA test, and my number doubled from my number after surgery. I got scared, surgeon assured me it's okay. Guess the CEA is picking up a protein that the cancer is emitting. And they tend to emit this protein when they are dying off. It took about 6 months for my CEA to get back to my after surgery number.

You say you are a stage IV. Where is your met? From what I understand, liver met tend to have a higher CEA number. Don't know why.

It's good that you are being monitored, hopefully it is nothing serious. Have you ever had a PET scan?

Hey Lee,

the same happened to my mum, after her first round of Capox there's been a slight increase in her CEA , within normal range still though. Hope it gets back to normal or it might be a signal cancer cells are dying. The onc just said not to worry and due to chemo lab things might turn up a bit different.

Cheers.

Hi Mario,

Hi sjywolf,

Not sure what is going on. Good that you are getting follow up care. If something is going on, early detection is your best defense. Please keep us posted.

Can you provide us with information below your signature. See info below my signature line. It can help others give info about you and where you are at on your cancer journey. Thus others can answer your question directly. If need be, I can possibly find a lick that can help you set up your signature line. Let me know.

All the best,

Lee

Joined literally a few minutes ago & this topic was top of my mind. CEA from yesterday increased after dropping steadily since January surgery & ontinuing 5-FU chemo. Admit that I freaked a bit but your posts here have eased my mind. Thank you.
