CT on Monday

Postby Aqx99 » Sat May 20, 2017 10:48 am

My oncologist ordered a CT scan to check on two lung nodules they found with my initial scan they did in February. At that time they told me the nodules were probably from a previous infection. Now I'm getting nervous. She said she just wanted to check on them prior to my surgery on June 14th, but my mind always jumps to the worst conclusion, especially since she ordered the scan for my chest, abdomen and pelvis again. I know there is no point in worrying until the test is complete, but this whole experience has taught me that you never know what they are going to find. I'm also a bit worried because my liver enzymes were increased on my last metabolic panel. They are still in the normal range, but they have almost tripled in 3 weeks. I would hope she would have mentioned any concerns she had about that when telling me about the new scan.

I guess I'm just looking for some words of encouragement to help get me through until the results come in.

Hi ,
From your signature you have just completed chemo radiation. I would expect your liver enzymes to be raised a bit from that . My mum's liver enzymes were not even raised at diagnosis despite a significant spread but they went up when chemo started. One has decided to stay up but her liver has now been clear for six years .
The scanning is the necessary evil for sure.
Hope it's good news,
Kind regards

Oct 2018. Another clear scan .

Try to relax tonight. Worry doesn't help.

All the best to you tomorrow.

Yes scary times. Getting scans prior to surgery is normal.

Many people have lung nodules, generally they are nothing. Can be caused my many things, generally some past infection. Try not to worry (yes I know, easier said than done).

Thinking of you,

Well, the scan is over. Last time it took about two days for the results to come in. Hopefully it will be good news.

The results came back this morning. The lung nodules are unchanged. My liver is intact. Even though this CT is not a good indicator, they did note that my rectal wall is no longer thickened and the two lymph nodes they noted on the previous scan were not visible. I am feeling a huge sense of relief.
