New to the cancer deal

Postby Volfan » Sat May 20, 2017 9:43 am

Got a question about when you come off chemo.
Do any of y'all have a problem for a day or two getting your digestive system back going?
If you do what have y'all found that helps.

Doc has me on a chemo they give at the cancer institute that I don't no the name of but it causes the fingers and toes tingling and can't touch cold stuff for about a week. Also I go home with the pump for two days.
Also Doc gives me all the premeds day of chemo and the day I come off the pump.
I've been fortunate with the side effects. Fatigue and constipation are really the only problems I have at the moment.
Since my rectum tumor has stopped bleeding he will be adding a third chemo that does something with blood vessels.
Stage IV Rectal cancer with liver mets

Welcome to the forum.
It sounds like you are on Folfox. It's pretty common to have bowel issues with chemo. Talk with your doctor about your symptoms regularly and he or she can help you manage the side effects.
It might be practical to take Metamucil if you are having constipation.
I hope it goes well for you.
Take care.
