Worrying myself sick and in a bit of a panic.

First off, my sincere thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who's live have been impacted by cancer.

I am a 37 year old male. I went to the doctor this past Wednesday due to the fact that I've had a dull aching pain and sensation in my abdomen for about 3 weeks now. The pain seems to move around from left to center to right and comes and goes. I'll go a couple days and will feel little pain followed by 2 or 3 days with noticeable pain in lower abdomen. I exercise regularly and eat healthy for the most part. I didn't really pay attention to my stools until this past week and both on Sunday, yesterday and today they are pencil thin. I am also passing a lot of gas now, both farting and burping. I also seem to be losing my appetite.

My xray came back with the follow notes from the doctor: "There is gas and stool the colon and rectum. Increased stool is noted in the right colon. There is no gaseous distention of small bowel. There are no air-fluid levels. There is no free interpersonal air."

The doctor also ordered a blood test (CBC W/ AUTO DIFFERENTIAL) and all the numbers are in the "standard range".

My doctor was supposed to call me today, but I didn't hear from him. I am just worried sick because I have 3 young kids and wife and I can't stop thinking of the worse outcome.

Thank you for your kind words. Colon cancer is know for being a silent killer. Me I had on symptoms other than bleeding hemorrhoids. My PCP figured those bleeding hemorrhoids were my excuse for getting my colonoscopy early in life. At the age of 46, I was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer, no family history. My mom at age 55 ended up in ER, serious stomach pain and rectal bleeding. A colonoscopy was done, no cancer, no polyps, just a bad case of diverticulosis. My point, cancer is just "one" possible cause for your symptoms. Colon cancer tends to be silent, except when dealing with a blockage, and believe me a blockage is VERY PAINFUL. Your not there.

Does colon cancer run in your family? If you are concerned, PUSH for a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy will give you a true diagnoses, anything else is just a speculation.

All the best,

Lee

Keep on top of it and I second the colonoscopy if u don't get results. Don't be like me and avoid it thinking it will pass.

Not to scare you but there is a lot of us mid thirties around!

Schedule a colonoscopy with a GI doc. It's the only way to know. I put mine off because my doc said I was too young to have CRC. I regret it every day.
Knowing will put your mind at ease.

I second everyone else. Get a colonoscopy done. I put it off for years thinking my symptoms were ibs and now I'm 36 and have stage 3 colon cancer.
